Food here is really great the service today not so much. Brought grandchildren for breakfast now waiting beyond 30 minutes so my grandson has named it slow poke slipper! Have eaten here many times in the past and have never had this experience before normally the manager has things well in hand. The busboy told us that a cook had walked out...I wished that we knew that when we were seated so that we could make decision for ourselves as to whether or not we wanted to wait...how much effort would it have been for the manager tell his servers to let people know that there was an issue that was delaying the kitchen...that would have put his customers as a priority rather than his cash register! We will not be back....we have been loyal customers but will takeour custom elsewhere.

Consistenly great food, everything I've tried I've loved! Great drinks as well. Excellenet management!

Awesome breakfast! I ordered the Eggs Blackstone, it tasted great! It's their take on Eggs Benedict. Toasted buttermilk biscuit halves topped with grilled tomato slices, applewood smoked bacon a poached egg on each half and hollandaise sauce! Really hit the spot! My wife had the buttermilk pancake short stack and could hardly put a dent in them. These pancakes were so light and fluffy (and big!). Great flavor Super friendly staff too!

Had smoked salmon sandwich was good and bloody marry was really good knowing that they made their own tomato juice

This is their new location. It was superb. It's not often that that an attempt to improve upon Eggs Benedict works. At the slipper they pull it off splendidly. Actually after having Eggs Blackstone I find myself wondering how Benedict ever had his eggs without applewood smoked bacon. I can't wait to sample the entire menu. The wait staff at this location was meticulous in their endeavor to please. It was a splendid experience.

I used to live in the 1900 of Burgundy in another life. If Ruby Slipper would have opened while I was living there I would have thought twice about moving! Yes, that's a true statement. The original locale has been a fave for many years. The CBD location which is where I work, not so much. The Marigny location is much more like the original. Early on Saturday mornings a friend and I go on a good long work. We like to pick a place a good distance from where we live, walk to it, eat breakfast and then walk back home. This location is perfect for us to do just that! The day before we went I checked it out on Yelp and low and behold a Yelp! discount was available! We both ordered the 2 egg breakfast. The poached eggs were perfect. Neither watery nor vinegary which some places just can't seem to get right. The grits were divinely creamy. Bacon... crispy perfection. I would have ordered one of their super-dooper yum-yum high cal breakfasts, but it would have defeated the purpose of the walk. I had to give in to the bacon though. I am so glad someone finally moved into this building. Genius... genius. One thing... the outside tables need umbrellas. That side of Burgundy gets full sun for a good part of the day. Three CHEERS for Ruby Slipper!

If you check in via yelp! you get rewarded with BOGO mimosas! Score! Aside from the bubbly beginning I had the absolute delicious Eggs Cochon and will certainly be returning soon.

The 'Eggs Blackstone' was good like a super Eggs Benedict. The 'Eggs Cochon' was good too but rather than ham, there was bbq pulled pork. Eggs, pulled pork, biscuit, and sauce.... perfect. My only complaint (which is a good thing to limit my eating), is that there were only 2 on the plate. Had there been more, I would have eaten them. :) The 'Brandy Milk Punch' was worth getting as a drink to accompany breakfast. I wish they were open late for an after drinking snack, but they are not. :(

Really neat place, filled with history, a wonderful welcoming staff and delicious food. Stopped in for brunch after a weekend at Southern Decadence and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

We chose Ruby Slipper for our hungover Ash Wednesday brunch this year. I was surprised there was no wait at around 11:00 AM the day after Mardi Gras but I guess everyone else just hadn't crawled out of bed yet. I was promptly seated with two of my friends despite the fact that we were still covered in glitter from the night before and probably looked (and smelled) like we were in need of a shower. Our server was kind of awkward and left a little to be desired. She was a nice girl but seemed a bit inexperienced. The lunch specials start at 11:30 and she told my friend he couldn't order one at 11:23 because "they're really strict back there." I guess she was referring to the kitchen staff. After my friend told her that in that case he would wait 7 minutes and then put his order in, she came back to the table and said that she checked with the kitchen and "the cool crew was back there so he could go ahead and order now" although by that time it was 11:30 anyway. Weird. I ordered the eggs cochon and HOT DAMN they were delicious! 2 eggs on biscuits with pulled pork and hollandaise--OMG. I cleaned my plate. It didn't come with sides but it was filling enough that it didn't need them. I tasted my dining partner's shrimp and grits and they were delicious, too--plenty of shrimp to go around. I took advantage of the Yelp buy-1-get-1 mimosa and my awkward server made sure she pulled up the page to mark the deal as "used", lest I try to sneak in and use it again. The space was very cool and spacious. Neat artwork on the walls along with a flow-chart description of the history of the building (it was once robbed by Bonnie & Clyde, cool!) I left lunch satiated and a little drunk--the perfect way to start the lenten season. Cheers!

This is one of those reviews you kind of hate to write because you don't want to spread the word about your favorite place. I go here every Saturday with my husband and we always order the same thing: one vegetarian migas, one regular migas, one coffee, one mimosa, two waters. It's always delicious and the service is always smiley. Perfect spot for Saturday brunch!

  • Nicole E.

They serve alcohol and have excellent coffee and espresso drinks, but their food is meh. The French toast is French bread drenched in too sweet toppings (maybe offer other options- challah?!) and their savory dishes just never hit the spot.

I so wanted to be blown away. great location, sorely needed breakfast in the marigny. friendly staff. but what coulda been stellar? was ruined by too much horseradish. I had the corned beef hash. hash good, eggs good, but the limp tasting hollandaise? with horseradish? took away from all the flavors, by simply over powering them. and I like horseradish. sweet potato fries were great, with remolaude. I keep trying to like ruby slipper. I really do keep trying. but there's always something that goes wrong. I will be back for lunch here, and steer away from the breakfasts. gonna try lunch .... I will be back. I won't order the corned beef hash. promise.

I have recently been informed that the new Marigny location hand delivered invitations to the grand opening to every house in a 2 block radius. They also sent a mailed invitation to everyone in the zip code and posted in the Marigny newsletter. That sounds like a fair bit of outreach to me!

Bring back the yogurt!!!!! I may start a petition. Who's with me? Apparently no one since they took it off the menu. Once upon a time they served this amazing greek yogurt with house made granola, fresh fruit, and drizzled with honey. It was the stuff my dreams were made of. And now they don't have it. I thought I would cry when I saw it was gone. Had an omelette instead. Meh. The rest of the food is fine. Nothing special. Just regular breakfast fare. Coffee is a little weak. Service is nice. The restaurant has an inordinate number of flies buzzing about. I am told it is from the nearby horses. Honestly, I probably won't go back. I have been 5 times, and without the yogurt, there are other places I would rather go. But it isn't a bad experience.

Great mimosas! Brunch is phenomenal. Sit outside if possible. (Magazine St) Crawfish crepes were excellent and the pancakes are fluffy. Breakfast burritos to die or! Oh- They have different specialty pancakes every weekend. My favorite so far have been the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. :-))) Great service. A little wait if you don't have reservations but worth it. We went Easter Sunday without reservations, waited about 25 minutes and got a table outside. Tip: if you check in on yelp you can usually get a coupon... ;)

    (5)
  • Jeannie H.

Food was good and the mimosas were ok, manager was very alert, but I found it strange that during breakfast happy hour you had to mention the 2 for 1 to get it???? I ordered 2 mimosas and was charged for 2 till I spoke with the manager, he said you have to mention happy hour????? This makes no sense.

This place was pretty good! We filled our bellies on the Monday of St. Pats. The mint green pancakes were a good thematic idea, and fairly tasty. The florentine omelette was well composed with fresh ingredients. Overall a little over priced and somewhat stark/hokey decor, but a decent breakfast choice. They are very generous with their biscuit sandwich egg helping, and the biscuits themselves are fluffy and delectable.

  • Abbas N.

Great service. Good coffee. Amazing food with pleasing presentation. Our group had three little pigs omelet, Spanish omelet and migas with shrimp instead of the chorizo and everyone was extremely satisfied! The biscuits and breakfast potatoes are some of the best I've had. Try this place!

  • L. B.

It's ok here. Nothing memorable except that it was a cool former bank building and they have a 2 for 1 mimosa special and will put 1 in a to-go cup for you if you didn't have it during your meal. I truly don't even remember what I had. Oh wait, pancakes. I kinda had to think really hard with that. But again, nothing special, shrugs. I came here because my credit card offered a great points deal and the decent reviews but I wouldn't return - nothing you can't make at home. I preferred Elizabeth's even though it's pricier there. Not like I didn't drop a pretty penny here anyway - $43 for 2 people. Mimosas are cheap, $5 each so that pretty cool plus the yelp check in makes it's $2.50 each.

    (2)
  • Brandy R.

I got an omelet and was only able to eat half! It was huge and very good! They also let me substitute fruit for the potatoes :-) And to wash it all down the ruby mimosa is delicious!

I went here on my last trip to New Orleans for brunch and was really impressed with the food. I had the barbecue shrimp and grits, they were amazing. Overall the restaurant was big, but not laid out very well. There was literally no place to wait and they were super busy. Also it looked like they had just stuck a bar in the back of an empty office. I would go for the food, but maybe try a less busy time.

    (4)
  • dodd m.

Probably the best brunch I've had in New Orleans. If you don't mind the wait and venturing out of the French Quarter, give it a try.

This is quite a gem tucked away among houses. My companion and I were trying to stay on a grain-free diet, which can prove to be quite challenging in the Crescent city, but Ruby Slipper Cafe's omelette selection was a definite s buccess. Unlike most restaurants in the city, the cafe was bright and airy. The staff was great. All around, a pleasant way to wake up.

Full disclaimer: having grown up in the restaurant industry I have at least a slight knowledge of how a well-run establishment should be run and what is/isn't acceptable. The host was great, forget his name but he was funny, conversational and accommodating. The first thing we noticed that "bugged" us as soon as we walked in were at least 5-6 (maybe more) flies buzzing about the restaurant. I understand this is New Orleans but in the middle of November something can and should be done about this. It's a sign of filth and I couldn't shake the notion that if this many flies were freely visible in the dining area, how did the kitchen look? Now on to the food. I had the Eggs Cochon and a side of grits as recommended by the waitress. They were good but luke warm and would have been much better if they were hot. My girlfriend ordered the BLT and a club sandwich came out (strange since they told us they couldn't make a club). She sent hers back and while the rest of the table ate their food, she sat their for at least ten minutes only to receive a thrown together BLT with the same cold fries (sweet potato, they were out of regular fries) that accompanied the original, erroneous meal. The sandwich looked less than desirable and the fries were inedible. The rest of my family were happy enough with their meals, though not blown away in the slightest. From here, the story gets a bit more disgusting. I had a couple bites of my grits and noticed a black thing it in - something I chalked up to be a burnt piece of food (maybe a stray onion?). As my girlfriend helped me eat the grits we were horrified to find out it was a dead FLY. A fly in the grits. Unbelievable. Digusting. Whatever word you can thing of, it was nausea-inducing and something I've never experienced in my 27 years of dining out. Let's recall that I have worked for many years in varying positions in the restaurant and kitchen so I understand mistakes can happen. This being said, I walked over to the manager of the restaurant and quietly, discreetly let him know what I had found. His idea of rectifying the situation? Offering us more grits. When I said that was unacceptable he told me he could take it off the bill. Really?!?! You can take the $2.50 grits with a dead fly in them off the bill? Now that's service people! Of course I still pressed considering how much of a failure my girlfriends meal was (not yet mentioning the fact that our waitress, while nice, was slow to refill coffee and had to be reminded multiple times for things she forgot). From here he decided he was going to take 20% off the entire bill. I'm not one to look for a free lunch but I also know what's right is right. He countered with 50% which we accepted. Then he went to speak with some others and came back and told us the entire thing was free. That is what should have been done in the first place. This isn't a hole-in-the-wall, unkown eatery. It has come highly recommended both personally and via Yelp. A manager worth his weight will do whatever it takes to make sure an issue gets resolved - not go back and forth with the patron making a scene and an even more unpleasant experience for everyone. Safe to say, we will be going back to Stanley next time where the food was good, the coffee was refilled and the flies stayed outside.

Eggs cochon was really good. Had the praline pancake too and that was savory. I really like the decor and servers were prompt and polite. I'll be back for breakfast again after night shift. Parking was an issue.

  • Ace Q.

personally, as far as just the food goes, i don't see it living up to the ratings. we ordered eggs cuchon and shrimp and grits, and nothing stood out about either one. Eggs were good, but wouldn't stand out in a lineup, which is hard to do at any rate. Grits and shrimp were bland, maybe because i never add table salt to cover up deficiencies. the atmosphere is nice though, and its more of a urban-revitalized-warehouse feel as opposed to the more stereotypical new orleans vibe, so a nice change of pace. its ok to go to, but i wouldn't seek it out, especially during their busy times

Unforgettable!! This location left my husband and I very happy. The service was great. Joe is the manager and, oh man, does he understand the meaning of customer service. He was just so genuine. Our server, Niece, was very honest and professional, yet friendly. We were sold. Then the food. The food was fresh and it was very apparent that it was from scratch. It was very affordable and the portions were more than enough. I can't wait to go back.

Delicious food! Beautiful presentation. But the wait is long and the place is loud. I have been here several times, and it is always quality food and tastes great. Any problems and they are quick to get it right. But the service is a bit slow because they are so busy, nonstop. But, I add again, that when they do get to your table, they listen and take good care of you!

    (4)
  • Alexis R.

Really delicious! The wait at the Marigny location was not too horrible at all, especially for a Sunday. I had been to the downtown location before previously, and knew it would not disappoint!

    (5)
  • Dani T.

Best breakfast yet! Fresh, homemade hash, crispy breakfast potatoes and fluffy biscuits! Piping hot coffee with an attentive server who was always refilling my cup! Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a nice breakfast spot.

A failed franchise. I was enamored with the first restaurant and so I tried the CBD location-twice-and was slowly served cold food both times. Having Sworn off the CBD I returned to Mid-City and was reminded why Ruby Slipper has become a New Orleans favorite. Today I tried the Marigny location and was served slow and cold food. My Coke was flat and someone actually said to me, "I'm not your server" when I attempted to inform the waitstaff (so they could, ya know, fix the issue). Two friends ordered the same dish, one came out cold with congealed eggs, the other steaming hot. My food was, at best, luke warm. I have no idea how this restaurant keeps expanding as I consistently get horrible service and cold food-except at the Mid_City location. I WANT to like the other locations...but after now FOUR slow/cold food experiences... well... let's just hope another trip to Mid City will RE revive my faith.

I liked the atmosphere of ruby slippers, the high ceiling and the indoor balconys and paintings made it a unique place. The portions were huge and very delicious (foster banana pain perdu and the Spanish omelet), plus they have a real espresso machine (very important to me)! One star deducted for slow and a bit dreamy service.

We were huge fans of "Mother's" and the last 2 times we ate there it was not that good. A friend told us to go here, and we went 2 days in a row. Just amazing service, food, vibe, coffee-- it doesn't get better. I had Banana Foster French Toast and Shrimp & Grits. Just awesome. Crowded, but worth the wait.

    (5)

Solid brunch spot! So happy yelp did not steer me wrong! I don't eat chicken, but my friends kept crying over the chicken sausage. A bit of a wait but very much worth it.

I meet with a group in the private room in the morning. The management and staff are accommodating, efficient and gracious; the space is set up and prepared for our arrival; the wait staff are efficient, polite and attentive; and did i mention the food is delicious?!! Come on in, the place is GREAT!!

(for got to post this review - We visited in December 2012) On a tip from the innkeeper John at Marigny Manor House Bed and Breakfast we were luck to find this place. The fried green tomatoes are to die for and the hubby loved the green eggs and hams. The bread pudding is a wonderful treat! This is the grand opening weekend so lots of fun things and great food!

  • Suzi S.

Terrible. BBQ shrimp and grits tasted nothing like BBQ shrimp. I paid 13 dollars for a huge bowl of grits and a few shrimp in it. My boyfriends potatoes were sour and the noise was so bad I had to plug my ears. Very disappointed.

I was looking for a place for breakfast, so I searched and this place came up. It was a great decision by google to chose. It is in a good neighborhood, so I sat outside and it was a great experience. The food is amazing and it was a beautiful day

We went on a weekday morning so it was quiet with locals. I can imagine this place being jammed on weekends. Service and the setting in an old bank warrant four stars. But breakfast for two on a weekday cost us $39 including tip. They charged for iced coffee refills. NOT cheap. i felt like I was cheating on Cake Cafe.

Go here and eat eggs blackstone. You'll thank yourself. Also be sure to get some fresh squeezed orange juice. Quality, fresh ingredients. Decent prices. Friendly staff. Cute decor. I don't need to say anything else because there's nothing else to say. I'd eat here every day if I could. Sadly, I live 12 hours away... :(

  • Charlene B.

Great breakfast/brunch option! I recently went with a party of 10 and they were very accommodating. They don't normally take reservations but will reserve a section for a large party if you call ahead. The staff was attentive and our food was delicious! We ordered a variety of dishes including the Migas, Basic Breakfast, Bananas Foster Pain Perdu, and the Granola, Yogurt and Fruit dishes. To compliment our dishes, we also ordered the Brandy Milk Punch, which was just a little too milky, bellinis, and the infamous Ruby Slipper mimosa, which has a splash of pomegranate. Generally, everything was great and as my rating states, I'm a fan!

  • Lauren S.

My boyfriend and I drove by the Mid-City Ruby Slipper a few weeks ago, and upon seeing a line around the block, decided to check out the new location in the Marigny. It wasn't as busy as the downtown or Mid-City location, so it was easy to get a seat for two. I actually like the space much better than the original location. The building has seating at the bar, regular tables, and a small separate area that could probably serve for private events. The same menu you know and love from the Mid-City location is served here, and served by many of the staff who have been working at the original location for years.

Great shrimp and grits, good vibe, check it out!

    (4)
  • Paul O.

Have enjoyed eating at the other RS locations, but to have one open up around the corner from my apartment is great! The building is interesting, the menu is elevated breakfast diner food, so a little more pricey but more interesting than most comparable places, and the staff are attentive (a little too attentive at times? maybe just eager in the opening weeks). A bright, airy dining room, cheery atmosphere and just minutes away (for me!).

Would have given it one more star. Except this particular Sunday, the water in New Orleans was shut off temporarily. We know this happens periodically. No big deal. However.. If someone wants water and can't get it. You don't offer them a coke at $2 bucks. It was pretty classless that we had to pay for soda that was a replacement for water. Also they couldn't was dishes so food came out on paper plates. Again, no big deal, but the food runner should at least have said ; sorry we are having a city boil order so no glass plates at this time. There were others who were served meals on glass plates. It's nice to be informed. It sucked to pay even more for less. Seemed they were having to good of a day to at least be apologetic..

Best shrimp & grits - no joke. This is one of the places which becomes a point to return. Love the mimosas. Tried both the canal and marigny locations on several occasions and no complaints. Pear pancakes are great, sausage phenomenal, and Brie omelette melts in your mouth.

Outstanding cafe'. We went there for breakfast before the saints game and had coffee and omelets. The food was outstanding, the service was very friendly , the atmosphere was wonderful, and the manager was even walking around asking how everything was going. Just really enjoyed the whole experience. Will definitely be back.

The Eggs Cochon would definitely make my list of most delicious dishes I have ever consumed! I also enjoyed a delicious Banana Pecan Pancake. This will be a must have anytime I return to New Orleans!

my absolute favorite brunch spot. there is always a wait, but it is so worth it. enjoy mimosas or bloody Mary's or brandy milk punch while you wait. the shrimp & grits are fantastic & if the raspberry pancakes are the special, you better order them!

  • Alayna B.

Best Bloody Mary in town. Great breakfast spot with unique cajun dishes. I get the Egg Cochon. It's a twist on Eggs Benedict, substituting the ham for pulled pork. It was extremely flavorful and a very filling dish. I just love it!!

  • Chris Z.

Love the new location and this is my favorite early morning weekend destination. There is nothing better than having a bloody mary at a patio table outside in the Marigny after a long night out. Everything on the menu is fresh and delicious, and their drinks are well mixed. Definitely worth the trip.

I was looking for a great bowl of shrimp & grits so I decided to try this cafe. The atmosphere, service, & Mimosa were far better than the shrimp & grits. My husband had their version of Eggs Benedict and he loved it.

The one star was a gift! Didn't get to eat here and will never give it another chance. A server's SO and baby walked in and were given the table that we had been waiting for. We have never walked out on a restaurant, but felt we had no choice after that treatment.

Wonderful breakfast/brunch place in NOLA. We first went to the Marigny location on a Thursday morning and had no problem getting a seat. We went back on Sunday morning and waited about 15 min. at around 11 am or so for two of us to be seated. They have a morning Happy Hour M-F from 7-10 am with great Bloody Mary's and Mimosas. The Challah Bread in the Croque Madame is amazing (I had never had it before). It was so good, the wife ordered it both times we visited. The Eggs Blackstone was also really good, as was their basic breakfast. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The only thing that stops this from being a five-star review is that I didn't like their biscuits as much as other restaurants I've been to (I like a fluffier, less dense biscuit). It's a really solid breakfast/brunch choice, and we'd definitely visit again.

The staff was innatentive, though friendly. I ordered the CBH eggs Benedict. The menu description was much more interesting than the reality and even though the food arrived promptly, it was cold.

I had the Eggs Cochon, and they were fabulous. Friends had peach cobbler French toast (on special) and another had sausage and gravy on biscuits ( must have been on special, too. Can't find it on the menu). Bloody Mary's and mimosas were fab. Next time I go, I want to try the CBH Benedict.

This is close to the top of my all time brunch places. They make a great bloody mary and the irish coffee is good as well. Their food was very unique but everyone thoroughly enjoyed their breakfast. I got the eggs cochon, they were different than I thought they would be meanwhile were better than expected. I regret not getting the southern fried chicken after tasting my friends. Overall it may have been the best meal I had this trip down there. I would give it a 4 1/2 if allowed.

  • Megan E.

They had absolutely awful service. We put in for a party of 5 And they messed it up and only put a party of 2. They didn't care, they were rude, and made us wait an hour and a half. I'm annoyed that we even ate there but we were so hungry by the point that we were seated we had no other choice. They also made the comment that they don't use reservations because they are "exclusive". God awful service!!!

I have eaten at all the Ruby Slippers and am loving their new location in the Marigny. They went all out on the renovation, the place looks amazing. The staff was really friendly and helpful. I think we would have licked the plates if we could have gotten away with it. I had the Croque Madame - which was wonderful. He had the BBQ shrimp & grits - one of his favorites. I can't wait to go back. I am planning on our girls holiday get together there!

Think 5 stars is generous ? Not really in a neighborhood that desperately needed a great little breakfast/brunch/lunch place. We finally got one. Good sized portions, reasonable prices that are comparable to lesser establishments, nice (and I do mean nice) menu as well as a staff that cares about the place being a hit. Recent visits have all been a success, both with locals and out of town guests. A-maz-ing crab cake as a special one morning, and frankly, one of the best burgers I've ever had, anywhere. Port of Call is just a few blocks away and they need to be afraid, very afraid... their unfriendly staff needs to come visit a clean, well run, happy eatery and learn some stuff. I know, apples & oranges, but Ruby Slipper does raise the bar. It doesn't hurt that on each visit, the manager has come over and introduced himself and inquired about our satisfaction. You've been warned Le Peniche. Oh yeah, a very good Bloody Mary here too. I am very happy to have a great breakfast available within walking distance to my house. And check out their website, they recycle and support local suppliers, all good in my book. So you see, in my opinion, the 5 stars are deserved.

Loved the omelette! Had the opportunity to grab seats at the bar instead of waiting for a table. The bartenders were sweet and fun to converse with. Double mimosas were refreshing

Definitely a surprise, though I'm not sure why because the location itself is fairly nice. Loved the food, omelette and French toast were awesome! Also gotta love their Mimosas!

Great way to start the day. They had standard breakfast options (eggs and bacon), which were done well. And it's away from the craziness of Frenchmen St.

We were in town and found this gem on yelp. What pure joy. The staff was friendly and efficient and the food incredibly delicious. There was a pretty long line outside but it moved quickly. Very kid friendly and cool vibe.

Love the decor, the ambiance and the food here. The specials are huge plates so come hungry and leave with a smile. The specials are an interesting take on southern cuisine. A definite must try if you're in the Marigny area for brunch or lunch.

They had me at the name.I love all things ruby slipper! That said, they had a name to live up to, for *this* friend of Dorothy, just saying. But Ruby Slipper came through. I've read countless reviews for their other locations and went in with a few preconceived notions, but because I pride myself on having an open mind, I pushed them aside and quickly ordered myself a Bellini, my favorite breakfast drink that isn't a Bloody Mary. My friend made use of the buy one get one free mimosa Yelp check-in deal. Their Bellinis are really damn good. Sparkling, not unlike a ruby slipper, and peachy keen. Yes, I'll have another! Mimosas appear to have fresh squeezed OJ. I tasted it and it's as good as a mimosa can get (thought truth be told, I'm not really a fan of OJ in my champagne. That seems like a mistake made by someone's rich, drunken mom on Sunday morning. The kind that wakes up with her false eyelashes askew. The kind that smokes as she makes scrambled eggs and bacon. Excuse me. I had to go there). The menu features hearty breakfasts served all day, as well as burgers, sandwiches and salads for lunch that starts at 11am. I don't like anything heavy to start my day out (even if that day is starting at 1pm), unless I'm making up for a lost night of boozing and no feeding. This wasn't the case, so I just ordered two sides: grits (creamy and dreamy) and breakfast potatoes (crisp and tasty, made from real potatoes, no rehydrated crap). I poured hot sauce all over that stuff and was pretty happy with everything. My friend declared his burger damn good. I love the big open space. Hey, I'm eating in a old bank?! Very cool. I had a nice view of the namesake giant logo on the wall, too. I think I'll be here on the regular.

I didn't know anything about this little breakfast and lunch hotspot in the Marigny, a neighborhood just east of the French Quarter, but our travel companions were raving about it. The Ruby Slipper serves breakfast all day, which is good for people like us who like to sleep in. After being put on a twenty minute wait, we ordered a few breakfast coctails from the bar. A spicy Bloody Mary, and a great rendition of a brandy milk punch had our morning starting out right. Upon being seated in what looked like an old bank, we made our selections which were delivered with rapid fire pace considering how busy they were. For full review, visit: dashofles.com/blog/new-o…

So delicious! Went there during Mardi Gras weekend and it was crazy busy, but the service was good under the conditions. I had the 3 little pigs omelets and it was great but after ordering I realized I should have ordered Egg Cohon. I recommend it for anyone in NOLA.

Awful food, everything served cold. Nothing unique or tasty. Even Coke was awful. How does this place stay in business. Wait staff awful. It's not even busy

Oh, Ruby Slipper, you had me at your name. I had high hopes for you before I even stepped inside based on the name of your restaurant alone. Thankfully, I was in for more great treats. The restaurant is in an old bank that's really cool and spacious. The service is impeccable and the food? Divine. We stopped in on our way to the aquarium. I had an iced coffee and a delicious sandwich called the Eggs Blackstone. Two poached eggs over bacon and grilled tomatoes on a biscuit with hollandaise sauce. Perfection. My daughter had the small stack of butter pecan pancakes, but let me just say there was nothing small about this small stack of pancakes. They were a big as the plate. No kidding. Cooked perfectly and quite delicious as well, we had to bring over half of them home to enjoy for later. If you haven't tried Ruby Slipper yet, you really should. I can't wait to go again! "Click your heels together three times and think to yourself, There's no place like home. There's no place like home." There's no place like New Orleans.

We ordered the bloody Mary, hot chocolate, and coffee to start. We weren't impressed with our beverages at all. We all shared the shrimp cortez special, the southern breakfast, and the pork cochon. The cochon and the southern breakfast were solid but just ok - no really good flavors popping. The shrimp cortez was excellent. Service was attentive. I would eat there again, but definitely wouldn't seek it out.

After trying to decide on the perfect brunch spot for our first morning in NOLA, my husband read the statement, "you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning" and said that he liked their style and we decided to hit up The Ruby Slipper Cafe. We frickin' loved this place. We shared the Corned Beef Bennie and the Eggs Cochon and each had a double mimosa. The portions were huge! Those were the biggest biscuits I think I've ever seen and oh so tasty. I had only a vague idea of what "cochon" or "pork debris" really was, but was pleasantly surprised to find out it's basically akin to what we Texicans know as "carnitas." Both entrees were good (pretty much Eggs Benedict on a delicious giant biscuit instead of an English muffin--one with "pork debris" and the other corned beef hash), but I think I liked the Eggs Cochon just a little more than the CBH. That mimosa was also undeniably the best I've ever had. Ruby Slipper apparently puts a splash of pomegranate juice in them and it really sets off the flavor. They were also still very sparkly ("flat" mimosas just aren't as fun, you know?) and I had a solid buzz halfway through breakfast. As a side note, this restaurant is also located in a cool old bank building that allegedly got robbed by Bonnie & Clyde back in the day. I am so glad we went here.

Came to this location for brunch with some friends. 3 out of 5 of us enjoyed our meals so that's a good sign. Can't remember what everyone ordered but I'll do my best lol. I had the eggs dauphine which was the special of the day. It consisted of fried green tomatoes with poached eggs and shrimp with a tomato basil sauce on top of two huge homemade biscuits. Not bad but not good, just okay. The hits of the table included the crab cakes with poached eggs which was BOMB. The cherry pancakes with vanilla glaze were also delicious and the banana foster French toast was by far my favorite. The shrimp and grits, ehh....wouldn't recommend them. They have a tomatoey base to them and are just not good. Overall I would definitely say come to this place.

What a fabulous spot for a delicious breakfast. This restaurant is in a beautiful neighborhood just outside the French Quarter. There are a few tables for outdoor seating, but we chose to eat inside. It's a beautifully maintained old bank building. My husband had the eggs Cochon, which was on one of the most delicious biscuits I've ever tasted. My migas scramble was fantastic. The chipotle sour cream was delicious. The mimosas and bellinis were just okay. Our server Matthew was friendly and attentive. The best breakfast we have had in NOLA yet!

  • Tom R.

I've eaten here several time- eat time everything is very well prepared, service is responsive and attentive, the mimosas are a bit pricey, and there is usually a wait. But I'll keep going back.

Brunch? And you're in the Marigny? There's no better place than the Ruby slipper. I've been here multiple times, and have yet to eat something not good. They have a changing daily special, but their standard fare is spot on. Today's choice was cherry cheesecake stuffed French toast. Quite spectacular. This place is usually quite busy, but you rarely wait long for a table. Friendly service and good food make this a must return location.

Wonderful good and fast service. I had the Southern Breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed. Biscuit was light and fluffy, grits were smooth and flavorful and eggs were cooked perfectly. Enjoyed so much that I went two days in a row!

Alright. I ate here after running a half marathon so they probably could have vomited onto a plate and I would have eaten it. But that in no way diminishes the fact that this is an awesome place to get drunk and eat breakfast. I suggest the Irish Coffee followed by a mimosa. For food, the eggs blackstone, grits and the banana pecan pancakes do a great job soaking up all of the booze you'll be ingesting. Plenty of vegetarian shit too! Seems like they're pretty willing to sub out meat for vegetables. If you've just run a long ass race, you'll probably want to sleep immediately after brunching here, so try to live near by.

Cool place. Never saw such a big red slipper on a wall before. Best smoked salmon on a biscuit. Just wish I was hungry enough to finish it. It was huge ! Worth another visit !

This was actually my second trial at The Ruby Slipper. Really wasn't impressed either time. The biscuits are rock hard and you have to eat around the burnt parts which makes for a super messy breakfast. Really disappointing since I received a recommendation to try this place out while visiting New Orleans. Wish I hadn't wasted my time.

We were here on New Years Day for Brunch, and this place was awesome. They got us in faster than they had originally told us for a wait time. Great brunch drinks. Menu is really cool, and service was awesome for as busy as they were. Only down point was my meal was a tiny bit cold, but it was still really good. Easy recommendation.

Excellent! We usually go to elizabeths for brunch, this place was so much better! Got there at about 1030 and got a table immediately. The food came out so fast I was shocked! The food was delicious and very well priced. Really the best brunch experience I have ever had.

Barista was a blur of motion, the waitstaff did a good job. The food was good, although not piping hot - place was packed and doubtless the kitchen was a madhouse. Still, enjoyable brunch and prompt service.

Great service. Very pleasant atmosphere. And, most importantly, excellent food. I ordered the eggs cochon and a side of cheese grits. Probably one of my top five breakfast dishes in the last five years. Order it and you won't regret it!

Went there for breakfast expecting something out of the ordinary. The room is great with interesting art on the walls. But the overall experience was very ordinary and dull. It was freezing cold when we were there and the manager excused that we had to wear our coats inside. That's nice of him. But it doesn't take away the fact that it is just another diner with a limited selection on the menu. The pancakes tasted a bit too much of baking soda. Not worth any hype with regards to breakfast/brunch.

Ordered the eggs cochon and CBH Benedict with bloody Mary. They were both very good and I would definitely get them again! There was a wait, but it was only about 20min. Great location and architecture (remodeled bank) too!

Huge portions and tasty tasty food. I had the southern breakfast which included a huge biscuit, 2 eggs, awesome bacon, a fried green tomato, grits and an Irish creme pancake which I added as a side. Perfection coffee topped it off.

The second time is the charm and so it was with my second trip into Ruby Slipper. I love their byo omelet, mine is the veggie omelet which is great. The grits and the biscuit do need improvement but the buy one get one mimosas surely makeup for that. Still the third choice on my Marigny brunch list behind Elizabeth's and New Orleans Cafe and Cake but to be on the list with those two is great company.

Corned Beef Hash Eggs Bennie. Yum!!! Breakfast here was so good that despite all the other amazing restaurants in NOLA, the next day we came back for breakfast again! The menu includes a ton of southern breakfasts taken up to the next level. I consider my self a Eggs Benedict expert of sorts and let me tell you, corned beef hash eggs Bennie?!?!? GENIUS. A touch or horseradish sauce and te whole thing on a biscut made for a melt in your mouth experience. Only complaint was there were a few bits of gristly corned beef, but id say only one bite out of 20. The egg was poached absolutely perfectly and considering how rushed a place can get on Sundays, I'm amazed at the quality!!! The mimosas paired perfectly. Gotta love the hint of pomegranate. Loved the atmosphere, it was once an old bank and the wall that separates the dining area still has the cashiers window. Adorable stained glass window art and plenty of art for sale. Highly recommend this gem and cannot wait to return and try something new!

Brunch was amazing. Had the eggs cuchon their signature dish. Biscuit was dense but buttery and delicious. Hollandaise was on point. Pulled pork could have used more smoky flavor but good. Bananas foster was out of this world. We wanted the blueberry cheesecake stuffed French toast but they were sold out. The waiter suggested the bananas foster and he was so right. Got a side of corned beef hash and it was delicious too. Mimosas and Bellinis were full of champagne and worth $11. Overall couldn't have been a better meal. Must go spot if you are in NOLA

I was visiting from New York with a group of 9 and we picked this spot sort of randomly for a late hangover brunch. It was honestly one of the best brunches I have ever had and a highlight of the trip. I had the fried green tomato breakfast sandwich, cheese grits, and a (fresh!) grapefruit mimosa. All of it was spectacular. I'm drooling right now just thinking about it. Ruth, our fabulous waiter, kept us entertained and happy. The service was quick and the food was perfect.

My wife and I are breakfast freaks. Quite possibly, this was the best breakfast that we've ever had. The service A+. Food A++.... Croquet Madame and Eggs Blackstone were incredible. The place is even in an old bank building with tons of character. Super highly recommended.

We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The wait staff is very good. The biscuits are amazing! We've had the eggs couchon , salmon Bennie, the traditional breakfast with fried green tomatoes, loved it all. Perfectly poached eggs, fluffy scrambled eggs, the chef is spot on. Try the brandy and milk if you need a little hair of the dog!

Perhaps the best meal of our most recent trip. Everything was just about perfect. Great ambiance and natural light in a building that once was a bank. Exceptional service from Brandon, incredibly efficient, offered great recommendations and was friendly and fun! The food was divine, reasonably priced and the portions were IMMENSE! I had the shrimp omelet and it was the only mildly disappointing experience, just a bit dry and bland. The biscuits were so big, the potatoes perfect, and my lady had their signature dish, the Eggs Cochon and she lost her mind over it! She also had some very strong and delicious mimosas to get kick-started. We split one Turtle pancake, the special for the day and it was so, so good, didn't even need syrup, came with caramel sauce. It was so light and crispy and the little dashes of sea salt put it over the top. Hard to imagine a better breakfast that this. So glad my lady found this for us to visit! Think our total tab was around 60 bucks for two meals and two mimosas. Well worth it!

  • La B.

we only came for breakfast, rode our bikes and found it easily. The space is small for the size of the building, but they make good use of the space and can accommodate larger groups. Had the pancakes and lost bread, both were good and filling. The lemonade was a good blend of sweet and tart. My pancakes first came out burnt and they quickly made me a new yummy batch. Kid friendly.

There are three Ruby Slipper locations in NOLA...hands-down, this one is the BEST! If you're staying in the French Quarter, make the walk through the awesome neighborhood of Marigny and go here. It's SO worth it. This is the best breakfast NOLA has to offer. Try the Bananas Foster Pain Perdu to experience ecstasy!

  • Michael H.

A really fun breakfast spot that we found on our second day in NOLA. Food was yummy and the service was fantastic. Only thing keeping this place from five stars was the strange and eclectic decor. Set in an old bank building, there was some turn-of-the-century bankness, some Art Deco in the bar, and some rather homemade looking decor around that. This has the makings of a true five star establishment with a little elbow grease in the decor.

  • Ashley F.

I was really excited to try this place and was extremely disappointed. The building itself was beautiful, and our waitress was super sweet. But the breakfast was awful, at least what I ordered was. I got scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, sausage, a biscuit, and a fried green tomato. Eggs were disgusting. The bacon I will say was perfect. Grits were also perfect. I still have nightmares about how disgusting that sausage tasted. The biscuit was huge but not very good. And I've never had a fried green tomato that was that nasty before. I ordered a coke, I don't know if something was wrong with their machine but it was awful. I ordered a coffee bc it was so bad. But they must use a crappy grade of coffee. I don't ever want to come back, even though it's in the cutest location!

I walked into the Ruby Slipper with a raging hangover, throbbing headache and feeling vaguely disembodied. I walked out a new man. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to keep anything down, but I decided to order the shrimp and grits, and it turned out to be probably the tastiest grits I've ever had with quite a few shrimp buried in there. The bloody Mary's were spicy and spot on. The service was very attentive and accommodating. My friend had the eggs Benedict, which was also tops. Nothing whatsoever to complain about.

We were really happy when the Ruby Slipper moved into the neighborhood; we love breakfast and until recently New Orleans had surprisingly limited choices for "the most important meal of the day". This branch has great atmosphere and service, but after dining there for months we're becoming disenchanted with the overall value and the lack of variety. I'm all for controlling portion size, but the servings here can be downright miserly, even when it comes to low-cost staples like breakfast potatoes. Often, my $13 eggs look really sad and lonely on my plate. You go to Elizabeths, and you'll get twice the potatoes. You won't be able to eat them because they're too salty, but at least they try. Also, giving people one piece of toast on a breakfast averaging $9 is just tacky. Come on y'all; there are a lot of people out there with hangovers depending on you. Step up. One more thing, some more specials would be appreciated, and during the week, please, when we can actually get a seat. We'd dine with you twice as much if we hadn't had everything on the menu three times.

  • Samantha W.

Stoped in for breakfast last week, first time at this location. My 3 little pigs omelet was amazing, filled with lots of delicious ham bacon and sausage, and the grits where perfect. I love that they have sourdough toast! The ice coffee was very disappointing though. They had two servers on the floor, which is fine because the restaurant is small. When it came tome for payment though our server was on the slow side. Better ice coffee and quicker service would have easily made this a four star experience.

  • J J.

They have a great location in an old bank, but a lot of other restaurants could be improving this location. The food is just so mediocre it's hard to believe they have successful chains in other buildings that don't have half the atmosphere as this one.

I am a sucker for a great eggs benedict and the Ruby Slipper Cafe delivered with their Eggs Blackstone. The traditional poached eggs and hollandaise over perfectly cooked bacon, tomato and a biscuit was divine. The grits were creamy and delicious, and I loved the pomegranate juice twist to their mimosas. We did experience a wait, but it was worth it.

Came here for breakfast around 11:30am this morning- we were told the wait would be 25 minutes but it was only 10. I checked in and got the BOGO mimosa which was delicious! Our server was the only disappointment in this restaurant. She didn't write down our order so when we received our food it was either wrong or missing items- I also overheard another table she was serving complain because she didn't mention that they were out of something they ordered and they just replaced it with a different item without the customers consent. We ordered fresh fruit, sausage links, breakfast potatoes, eggs, the breakfast sandwich and chicken sausage. It was a decent meal and decently priced- I may come back one more time during my visit in NOLA.

My friend and I went here to pick up to-go food, and have a couple mimosas. We sat at the bar, and were greeted by a girl who was obviously not happy with our agenda. She said that they are serving brunch at the bar, and if we weren't ordering food we may be asked to move (we were ordering food, just to-go). I asked her where we would be moved to, and she rolled her eyes and gave us a menu. Odd. Needless to say our mimosas were a burdon (especially when we checked in for buy one get one free), and we couldnt order anything but breakfast food (I thought brunch was a combo of breakfast and lunch?) We chugged our mimosas and left.

Good, fresh, non greasy brunch with a full bar. Good food, not bad prices, the different egg dishes are pretty amazing, well anything with applewood smoked bacon, and or, hash is always on the top of my list. The coffee is pretty yummy and the refills kept coming. Our waiter was great and didn't forget about us once.

My husband and I really liked this place. It had good quality ingredients, friendly service, and both of our dishes were really delicious. There might be some room for improvements on atmosphere, but the value and service make up for it.

We are visiting from Memphis and decided to stop at one last place before getting on the road. The wait for our food was too long and the food wasn't all that great. We were in their for over an hour. Our table ordered omelets, French toast and pancakes. It definitely was a disappointing way to end our stay here.

No. Don't do it. Everything was awful. Bacon raw, hard poached eggs, out of avocado on the Cuban. Kind of dirty. Don't know why it has good reviews.

So glad I chose this for my final meal in New Orleans. I had the Breakfast Sandwich, which was enormous and delicious. The service was outstanding, the room is lovely, the coffee is perfect, and the mimosas are always doubles. What more could you want?

So, I came here on Thursday October 30th because someone who works there recommended it to me. While that person is incredibly nice (but doesn't work with customers) and the man who seated me was very nice, I did not have a good experience and was ready to get out of there quick. Maybe my waitress (a skinny girl with glasses who never introduced herself) assumed since I was young AND Black that she would not receive a tip. A lot of people assume that Im younger than I actually am, and treat me accordingly until I let them know Im an adult and they need to treat me like one, but this time I was just trying to eat and get out because I felt very uncomfortable in there. Anyway, I told her what I wanted to order and she told me that was a lot of food...girl, I know what I can eat,and telling me what I can order with the Florentine omelet (main dish). Ive never had a waitress do that, they just let me order what the hell I wanted, which is how it should be. She was very passive aggressive and obviously did not want to come back to my table. She didn't even crack a smile. Hell can you pretend like you enjoy it just a little bit and not like its such a hassle because that was just unacceptable. I am a very calm and respectful person so I just kind of shocked. One of the waitresses did not even want to look me in the eyes lol Im sorry but it felt very weird being there. I live in San Diego and this never happens to me. There was also a Caucasian man across the room, he looked like an old rocker or something, he was with another old rocker looking dude and he just kept staring. I don't mind staring, but he was staring me like "Why are you here?" To eat mother******! I started staring at him, and he looked away and never looked back. That definitely added to the uncomfortable feeling I already had. Im not going to go into every single detail, but I felt really uneasy there, and I would never go back. I ended up getting the Florentine omelet which didn't taste very good to me.I usually don't eat eggs, but I didn't want to put any restrictions on my diet while I was in New Olreans so I tried it, which I regret, but the pancake was really good and the biscuit was good too even if it was kinda burnt. Also, I did end up tipping the waitress, but I really wish I would have given her what she deserved and what she probably thought she was getting- NOTHING. Overall, I obviously cannot recommend this place, especially to other African Americans, and especially if they are alone. I do recommend the Ruby Slipper on Canal street though, it was awesome.

This morning was our last morning in new orleans and we took a stroll down frenchman street and into the marigny, just looking around. We were about to go back to Oceania which I am a fan of when a man walking his dog asked if were looking for anything special. He suggested Horn and the Ruby Slipper so we continued our walk and found the Ruby slipper. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was attentive. They have a tv , but it qas playing an old black and white movie which we appreciate more 24/7 sports or news I had the croque madam and my husband had pancakes. It was good; I only wish I had been more adventuresome and ordered some of the other entrees featured; but I was still full from the night before. I love the location and the quiet streets with the colorful shotgun houses. It was nice to go to a neighborhood spot and enjoy a leisurely stroll with very little tourist traffic.

I wasn't that impressed by Ruby Slipper. It was good but I think if you can go elsewhere for the price paid. We ordered the Pork Cochon (yummy, but the pork cold) and the shrimp & grits. Please know that you cannot combine the two yelp deals (two for one mimosa and the $15 for $20).

The egg cochen was delicious! And we got the 2 for 1 mimosa. Ruth, the waiter was really friendly.

Believe the hype, the Eggs Cochon is a winner. Eggs, pancakes and coffee were also solid. Fantastic spot for brunch with a super friendly staff.

Tasty Bloody Mary; almost as good as mine! Girlfriend's mimosa was disappointing though. It didn't taste like fresh squeezed OJ. (Yes, we did do more than drink in New Orleans!). Croque Madame was excellent. We also had the pork eggs Benedict and the pork was super succulent. We went a second time and split the tex-mex scramble which was equally delicious. Nice atmosphere and god service. Good place for brunch in the Marigny.

This place is amazing. 5 stars for food, service, ambiance, value and cleanliness. Visit Mirinda, one of the sweetest servers ever. Strawberry banana pancakes will knock your socks off. Will definitely be back.

We had to wait a bit but in fairness we did have a group of 10 and they were very busy on a Sunday. My niece recommended the corned beef hash with hollandaise sauce... It was GREAT! I had one of their excellent pancakes. We had a couple orders that were a bit cold but the Waitress and Manager jumped right on it and took GREAT care of us.

Hands down THE best breakfast we had in NOLA. Have a mimosa while you're here-they are big! Staff was great, we had an attentive server who came back twice or maybe even more after our initial meal was served. Try the corned beef hash-I wasn't into the thought at all and it made me a believer. Portions are good, the menu is good...hated the line, but I know why there is one.

Amazing. So amazing and flavorful. I don't know if I can force myself to get brunch anywhere but here during our stay. The shrimp and grits and the Benedict....heaven.

This was the first brunch I'd ever been to in the city and I was really excited about it - sadly, it was pretty average. There are much better places to grab a fabulous breakfast. Maybe I ordered the wrong things or just tried it on a bad day? It was bustling, the atmosphere was great and service was quick. Just doesn't hold a candle to Tout de Suite in Algiers Point.

I like this location better than the one in Mid-City, such a cool re-use of a bank building! Very good coffee and now I'm wondering why I didn't have a Bellini? Anyway, I stupidly ordered eggs with a biscuit and corned beef when I could have ordered the special; a twist on the Benedict with fried green tomatoes as the English muffin, a bed of arugula and bacon. Everyone else at my table ordered it so I thought I should try the corned beef and MAYBE my husband would let me have some of his benny. He gave me one small and very delicious bite. Hash was pretty good, as was the biscuit but goddamnit, my over-easy eggs were inedible. Do restaurants cook eggs in a pool of water? I've had this happen before, it's pretty gross and left my eggs mostly untouched. Oh well, everything else was very nice.

The bananas foster pain perdu was DELICIOUS! Our waiter, Robert S...not so much. But we had a great time anyway!

Just wow. Great food. Best breakfast in NOLA by far. I had the eggs Blackstone, and it was delicious. You could tell that the food was fresh and well thought out. All of the other food in the place was making me second guess my choice, but that is only because I want to try it all. I would really recommend this place to any and everyone in town. I can't wait until I come back so I can hit this place up.

I enjoyed eating at this new, clean and stylish brunch spot. Their dishes are mostly well-thought-out, fresh takes on traditional breakfast and brunch fare. Portions are not skimpy, which makes it worth the cost. The staff and clientele are pretty hipsterish-- one staff member was wearing a beret, a waiter had an annoying curly-Q moustache, and the room looked like lunch break at a skinny jeans convention-- but that didn't bother me as much as the rather slow service. Halfway through our meal, my girlfriend and I ordered mimosas, which sat at the bar until the waitress finally brought them to us when we were finished eating. This kind of service can also delay table turnover, which contributes to a longer than necessary wait for a table during peak time. That said, I will go back because they have a nice menu and pleasant, upbeat atmosphere.

I've been putting off writing this review as I don't want word to get about how good this location is. It's better than the Downtown location. The menu is the same, the staff is friendlier, and the food tastes better. I haven't been to the Mid-City location. I had the croque madame which was really good (unless you're on a diet as this thing is packed with sodium, fat, and calories). I saved half for dinner. The egg was a little small, but I'm not taking any stars away for that. Others have noted that parking is an issue, but I've never had problems parking nearby... as I said I don't want the word to get out, but it's just a matter of time anyway. Go here. You won't regret it.

The grits are amazing! I ordered the Eggs Blackstone and they get another AMAZING review. My dining mates only gave 4 Stars stating the coffee was ok, the cochon pork was a bit bland very. But enjoyed the pancakes.

Nice staff and very accommodating of our gigantic stroller. It was not crowded on a June Monday. The banana foster's French toast... so yummy. However, very difficult to cut with just a folk. Hubs had the bacon pecan pancakes and said they were great. The bacon is crispy and meaty. Not too much fat. Just perfect. OJ is apparently "fresh squeezed" but didn't taste it. Nice little place. Not cheap but a great breakfast.

I happily scarfed down my scramble. It was absolutely great. They have a lot of latin food infused into their menu and its makes for some delicious dishes. Our mimosas were large, which made us very happy. The building is adorable. It's an old bank so it has lots of character. The walls are a nice cheerful yellow color. The decor is complete with a massive ruby slipper topped with an egg. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, you should definitely stop in.

Came in from Baltimore and stayed at an Inn on Esplanade. This was in close walking distance and we actually came two days in a row. The second day, which was a Saturday, the owner/manager (I assume) came around and thanked us for coming in. Very friendly staff. Try the Eggs Cochon! It was my favorite of the things I tasted while there. Great food and atmosphere and even the people who I've seen dining here are a interesting mix of ages and styles. Probably from being so close to Frenchman St.

So good! We went with a bunch of friends and were really impressed with the quality of food and service! Everyone at our table had something different, and no one was disappointed. French toast, bananas foster, eggs cochin, and I had a really scrumptuous eggs cochion, with catfish, spinach, artichoke, bacon and poached eggs served on these huge french bread spears. Our waitress was super friendly and kept the coffee flowing! Great time!

Came here with a large group in need of some food after a late night. The wait for a table wasn't too bad. The wait for our food was 60 minutes. Once it arrive, it was a little cold...however it was still tasty. All in all, it's recommended. I really enjoyed the coffee.

Went for brunch on a Saturday and it was a mixed crowd. it's close enough to the quarter to attract the adventurous tourist, a lot of marigny baby strollers, and of course the bywater crowd. the migas was formidable. coffee was okay. checked in on yelp and got a buy 1 get 1 mimosa. I'll go back for the eggs benedict.

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!! This place is unreal. How is it that this place has been around all of these years, and I have never been here. People should come to New Orleans solely to eat here. OMG. I came here on a Sunday for brunch. The place closes early, and we had to wait for some time to be seated, but the wait was well worth it! I ordered the praline pancakes, and I died for a few seconds after I had my first bite. BEST PANCAKES I HAVE EVER, EVER HAD!!!! Also, the servers were super friendly and very attentive. I just fell in love with how good this place is. You must try those praline pancakes!

Wow, we absolutely LOVED this place. Service was fantastic. Our server was incredibly friendly and upbeat (but not in an annoying way), helpful with choosing from all the delicious things on the menu, fast to refill drinks, and simply charming overall. Literally everything on the menu looked scrumptious. My partner got the Cuban and I got the catfish benedict. SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD. And I'm picky about my benedicts. However, be warned that the portions are gargantuan. Do not, I repeat, *do not* try and eat the entire thing in one sitting by yourself. We were very uncomfortably full afterwards, but man was it worth it. The restaurant itself is an interesting spot with super high ceilings, booths as well as tables, and local art on the walls available for purchase. We don't find ourselves in Marigny very often, but this place is totally worth the trip out there!

This place is by far one of the best breakfast/brunch spots in the New Orleans French Quarter. The atmosphere is pretty cool, as it's built out of an old re-purposed bank building. The staff is very friendly and are happy to assist with any questions or requests. I sampled a few of the dishes here, the best one being the Eggs Cochon, which is their signature dish. It had an amazing flavor with perfectly poached eggs and seasoned pork. Coming up a close second for me was the Bananas Foster Pain Perdu, a delightful french toast made with actual french bread. If you look on the menu, you'll see there are some dishes made with "pig-candy bacon". If you don't order anything on there that includes it, try getting some on the side. It's phenomenal. You won't be disappointed. They also have a good selection of drinks. I had a horchata iced coffee that was a bit strong but delicious. They make a good bloody mary as well. My favorite is the brandy milk punch. Don't ask me what's in it (aside from, obviously, brandy and milk....), but it was delicious and a nice follow up with anything on the menu. If I'm ever back out here again, I'll be sure to give this excellent place another run.

The ruby slipper is a nice place to dine and get away from the crowds in the quarter. We ordered the florentine omelette, which was good but a little on the oily side and the goat cheese was stuffed into one side of the omelette so there was a point of overload. My husband ordered the eggs cochon and everything about it was really good except for the poached eggs. They were undercooked. We saw that it happened to another table next to us as well. The waiter sent it back with no hesitation, but it certainly delays your day. We also ordered the blood orange mimosas but the blood orange juice wasn't very citrusy and taste like cheap juice. It wasn't the best mimosa I've ever had that's for sure. The coffee tasted a little burned as well. It's okay as long as you add cream. Not the best place we've ever eaten at but it could have been worse and the prices were reasonable.

Time to update my initial review. On busy weekends I tend to avoid it because they get a little overwhelmed but during the week they do a nice job. The food is always quality some portions larger than others but fresh and creative. The staff can be a little hot and cold sometimes nice sometimes a little cold the next but I keep coming back so something has to work for me. Sometimes I just walk in order a coffee to go and walk home and they do make good coffee. I recommend the migas for breakfast and defiantly give their daily specials a try. Just be aware on weekends you might have a long wait but hey there are alway other options if it's too long for your timeframe.

On our last day in New Orleans, my girlfriend and I were looking for a quick, simple, and tasty breakfast so we visited The Ruby Slipper Cafe. The place wasn't crowded at all on a Thursday morning, so we were seated immediately. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which included two scrambled eggs, pepper jack cheese, pig-candy bacon, and a fried green tomato on a large housemade buttermilk biscuit. My girlfriend ordered a short stack of pancakes with chicken sausage. During Black Friday shopping last November, I bought myself a breakfast sandwich maker. Since then, I haven't really felt the need to buy breakfast sandwiches from anywhere. However, the breakfast sandwich at Ruby Slipper was way better than anything I could make in my machine at home. The biscuit was huge and had a crispy buttery exterior with a soft, flaky interior. The pig-candy bacon was a little too sweet on its own, but it tasted great in the sandwich when mixed with the spicy creaminess of the cheese and the umami of the fried green tomato. This was easily the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The pancakes and chicken sausage were both very good too. If you are looking for a good place to get breakfast in the Marigny neighborhood, I would highly recommend the Ruby Slipper Cafe.

Great breakfast food with a NOLA twist. They are known for their biscuits, which are made on site, and are flaky and yummy. They are also huge. I had the bananas foster French toast, which you need to have a sweet tooth in order to fully enjoy. If you yearn for fried green tomatoes then get the BL2T sandwich and you won't be disappointed.

This is a place that definitely gives Biscuit Head in Asheville a run for its money. I thought I had found my favorite breakfast place in the Southeast when I ate in Ashevile earlier this year, but I may have found another place in that same realm. There are 3 Ruby Slipper cafes in New Orleans and a local recommended the one on Burgundy street because it's not as busy as the other 2 locations. We went with their instructions and walked the 1 mile trip from Canal to Burgundy. Even with a group of 8, we were able to get a table in about 15 minutes and we all started with Bloodys. These were damn good Bloodys and I really began to dig the New Orleans touch of adding pickled green beans. The food though, was what really left an impression. The drinks were good, the service was great, but this food was at the breakfast Mecca level. I had the Chicken St. Charles which is a fried chicken breast over a biscuit with gravy and poached eggs. Every aspect of this dish was perfection. The biscuit was moist and flaky. The chicken was crispy, yet moist. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. This is easily one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Everyone at the table raved about their food and we agreed that this will be our first food stop when we return to New Orleans. And considering the food scene in this awesome town...that says a lot.

Love the Ruby Slipper, it's one of the top breakfast spots in NOLA. This location was amazing and the manager Jeff helped us book our post-wedding brunch for 16 people. The private room was perfect for this occasion. There's always timing and temp issues with food when you have such a large group but we had plenty of mimosas so we didn't mind at all! The servers are great at what they do! So glad I could have my special outing at one of my favorite local places. Thanks Ruby Slipper!

This place is great and tho usually busy we happen to get right in at the bar. Awesome from top to bottom. The wait staff if friendly and on point, even in the hectic quarters of the sometimes chaotic brunch scene. The food here is some of the best breakfast around. I have eaten here all three times I have been to NOLA and will surely be back again.

Well, it didn't start off too great. We were meeting another couple who were already there enjoying a cup of coffee... We joined them and then I proceeded to rubberneck for 15 minutes trying to get someone's attention so that I could also enjoy a cup of coffee which turned into 5 cups. Coffee was great though. Food was good however for a $27 breakfast there should have been more food involved. It was good but not that good. There are many more places to enjoy a more hearty serving of food for this cost.

Our original plan was to go to the location in CBD, but when we drove by and saw the crowd standing outside, we drove over to Marginy. The building used to be an old bank, so this location had quite the character! The wait for 2 for Sunday brunch was over an hour, but we managed to get two seats at the bar within 10 mins of our arrival there. Based on yelper's reviews and a list of popular favorites posted on the wall, we ordered the Eggs Cochon. I had the Breakfast Sandwich. After we placed our orders, a couple of dishes came out for others at the bar. A woman next to me asked the bar server what the big loaf was and he replied, "that is a biscuit." We were all astounded, especially me, because I just ordered my breakfast sandwich be served on a biscuit! Needless to say, I could not actually make a sandwich out of it when I got it. I had to eat it deconstructed with a fork and knife :) The fried green tomato was glorious. I loved the seasoning/breading on it. The candied bacon strips were the shining stars! We should have ordered a side of candied bacon. I was able to finish most of my sandwich, but not the other half of that beautifully fluffy biscuit. The Eggs Cochon were also delicious but if the pork was hotter it would have been better.

Cool little restaurant in quiet neighborhood. Breakfast sandwich with fried green tomato on multigrain bread. OH MY GOSH. So simple but every bite was heaven! I'm not normally an egg sandwich lover, but my bf said I had to try it, and boy was he right. It normally comes on a biscuit and their biscuits looked to die for. Next time I will try it that way, or will, I because on mulitgrain it was SO amazing. Been to New Orleans 6 times in the past 5 months, kicking myself for not hitting this place sooner especially since it's in my neighborhood (well my neighborhood when I'm here). I took a cooking class from Kevin Belton (highly recommend) and he said this was one of his favorite spots. I'd seen it (very unassuming from the outside) but never tried it. Service was GREAT, even though they were slammed (they were on top of it, filling waters and coffee and letting people know status of their order), good job guys! And the food did come out fast! Wish Ruby Slipper cafe was down my street in CA.

Absolutely loved breakfast here! We tried a bunch of items including the sides. It was enough food for three or four people and didn't seem like we were over ordering. Everything was really good. I can't think of one thing to knock and maybe should be 5 stars. We sat at the bar and had excellent service and enjoyed talking to the ladies behind the bar who made us several different breakfast cocktails. After years of travel to New Orleans I'm really upset to have not been here before now! Will absolutely be back! We came in and say right down but it did get really busy soon after. Be prepared for a wait.

Recently stopped in on the last day of my trip to New Orleans. I was very satisfied. The portions are really large. The biscuits are huge and delicious. Good breakfast venue. Great options with three locations. Bacon bloody Mary's delish! If you like pancakes , you'll love the pumpkin pie pancakes with cream cheese . The Burgundy location has lots of room and seems to be unknown as of recent.

Soooo...we began brunch with Bananas Foster as an appetizer. De.Li.Cious! Back up...I had a Bloody Mary, my Niece had the Bellini and my Brother had the Mimosa. After we were seated, Brother had the Boogy Woogy Lemonade. They use pomegranite juice for color. It's very good. ;-) The Southern Breakfast, pancakes, the catfish breakfast with a grits cake (creamy, buttery, cheesy fried grits). *Sigh* Ridiculously delicious. We've been here for 4 days and this is the best meal we've had. Damned delicious.

Hands down, best meal in NOLA over a 5 day trip. We came just 15 mins before they were closing on Sunday but were kindly offered a big booth and were not rushed at all. I ordered the Eggs Cochon and could not be more pleased with my decision. Eggs, pulled pork, hollandaise sauce, atop crispy buttery biscuits?? HELL. YES. The biscuits were quite literally the best biscuits I've ever had. BIG, buttery, yet crispy on the outside, these babies were NOM-WORTHY. And I've had A LOT of biscuits. On top of the delish food, service was speedy and attentive. Definitely top of my brunch list for when I return to Nola!

The first time I ate here I had the shrimp and grits and they were amazing! My boyfriend got the eggs blackstone and it was definitely NOT amazing. His poached egg was awful. So we didn't eat here again for another year or so. Then we tried it again with friends in town. This was the only place that wasn't insanely busy and there's a reason why. It's just not that good. I had the shrimp and grits again and it was mediocre. My boyfriend got the st charles chicken and our friends got the eggs blackstone. At least the eggs were all kind of poached. In my opinion I will always judge a breakfast/brunch place on their poached eggs. If you can't have an amazing poached egg than you're not a legitimate breakfast restaurant.

  • Candace B.

One of the best breakfasts I have had! We had a little bit of everything pancakes, chorizo omelet, grits, biscuits with gravy and it was all perfect! The gravy epically was wonderful full of flavor...just get it! This place is kind of hidden in a neighborhood but still packed which I can understand why. This is a newer location for them so does not really have the old school New Orleans fill but don't worry the food will make up for it. We sat at the bar and the girls were great chatted with them the whole time and they made some great mimosas. If you are a breakfast person put this place on your list!!

SO GOOD! The location we went to was in an old bank, so the building was cool. We came around 10 AM on a Sunday - the wait was maybe 5 minutes. The staff was friendly, and service quick. All of the food was truly amazing. It's not RIGHT in the french quarter but its in a great location and a very yummy place for brunch. A good place to come for a break from all of the cajun/creole food :)

Loved it. Was staying around the corner and this place popped up on yelp. Anywhere I can get good cafe style food AND drink is a winner in my eyes. I had the shrimp and grits -- soooo good! Served with a fresh homemade biscuit, I was really impressed with the whole dish. Had to have a mimosa as well. Staff was all very friendly, speedy service, I just may have to pop back in before I leave.

This is a fun little spot to try outside the French Quarter, in a little, artsy neighborhood just on it's outskirts called the Marigny. It's an old bank building, complete with the bank's "cashier cage" still part of the dining room. We were there during the weekend of the Sugar Bowl, so the town was packed with tourists from Ohio and Alabama (and Florida, I might add for good measure) so with no reservation, the hostess told us that the wait was going to be about half an hour. She took my cellphone number, and promised a text when our table was ready. We spent the time just walking around the neighborhood, window shopping in the little art studios, and snapping pictures of the beautiful little homes that lined the street. Before we knew it, my phone was buzzing, and we made our way back for breakfast. My daughter had the Bananas Foster French Toast, my wife the biscuits and gravy, and I the Corned Beef Eggs Benny. Everybody had to to pass around forkfuls of their meals to share, and I have to admit, my daughter's was the best by far. The service was quick, our coffee cups were always full, and our server was extremely friendly. We came to realize that there were multiple locations of this same restaurant dotting the landscape all over New Orleans, but I'm glad I ended up being guided to this one.

This place was A-OK - nothing really blew me away but it wasn't bad by any means. Just a standard brunch, in my opinion. I ordered what the waitress said was their most popular dish - the Eggs Cochon. For the price I felt like the portion was smaller than I expected (don't get me wrong - I had plenty to eat, but it seemed a little spendy nonetheless). It was sort of dry near the end. The flavors were good but nothing was wowing me. I also had a mimosa which was pretty straight forward as well. My friend got a breakfast sando - again, standard. When I asked for jam (since my dish was dry and I needed some jam to finish it off) they didn't even have real jam, just smuckers disposables. Really? Anyway.I feel like this review is pretty boring but that's all I really have to say. Gosh, aren't you glad you read this?

Cool vibes just a little walk away from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter. Their breakfast was fulfilling AND healthy. Everything was fresh tasting and delightful. They have a lot of good options. I wanted to try a little bit of everything! I got the Florence Omelet. Their menu is really quirky and made us laugh with the little jokes. We were seated immediately and taken care of fairly well. I could easily go back to this restaurant every day of the week and be happy.

As soon as you walk in there is someone there to great you. I was seated quickly and, the wait staff was extremely friendly. AMAZING food!!! Very cute and quaint type of place. Very homie and country style diner. Food was soo good! Portions were huge and everything was under 15 dollars. Location is a little tricky and it's pretty far from the heart of bourbon but it's worth the walk!

Food was above average but not outstanding. The difference of that was made up by the quantity of food you receive. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwich and a goat cheese, spinach, and bacon omelet with a biscuit. Holy moles! I've never seen such gigantic biscuits before. We are from Nashville, so biscuits better be good. These were good. Dense, too massive to consider finishing, and a good flavor. The service was just okay. Maybe we caught the girl on an off day but she seemed unhappy with her job. She was not attentive. I noticed the other server making rounds often, smiling, and accommodating needs while ours just stood back. Not sure I ever saw her smile! Anyway, I would return here and recommend to friends visiting the city!

The most unique and friendliest place to go for breakfast in the Marigny. It's where the locals go for brunch. There was a wait, but it was shorter than what was quoted. Our waitress April was so helpful! She gave us some great inside tips on our visit. The food arrived fast and was so delicious!

Amazing food, great atmosphere in an old bank building with the cashier cage still intact. The food was out of this world. Brunch with a southern flair. We went on a Sunday and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, there was a line out the door. Make a reservation! Great location, service is tremendous, and the menu is superb! Definitely a must go when in New Orleans!

I was really looking forward to this place after all the amazing pics of good ole southern brunch goodness. Even when I sat down and saw the food go by for other tables I was getting more excited by the minute. I ordered the Chicken St Charles. Unfortunately it was pretty awful. I don't know if I just got a bad order or what but the chicken was dry, tough and rubbery, the biscuit was equally tough, chewy and difficult to cut into and the whole thing was lukewarm / borderline cold. The only saving grace was the service was actually quite attentive and fast or else I would have given it one star.

First meal in NOLA, brunch! My friend took us here right away. I enjoyed the atmosphere; service was just what I would expect. I ordered the southern breakfast, and found the biscuit to be my favorite part! It was perfectly layered with flaky, buttery goodness. My friends' double chocolate pancakes looked epic, I have to say. Next time! All in all, 5 from me.

3 locations... 1 near you. We dined at the Marigny "oh how I Love the Marigny" location for my granny's birthday. No wait. Open seating. Good food. Reasonable prices. Full bar. Great service. We ordered 3 cups of coffee, a small stack of pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon for her && a double espresso & migas for me. The small stack pancakes were ample in size; so much so that my granny couldn't even finish them, ditto with the 2 scrambled eggs. 3 cups of coffee & my granny is a coffee connoisseur; no really she is. So for her to have not 1, not 2, but 3 cups... My migas dish & double espresso were on point. My plate was so clean it could've been used again without washing. Lol. Not really, but my plate was clean as a whistle. The service was great & definitely made the dining experience quite pleasant. The food & service were so good until the next day my granny was still remarking about it. The decor & design of the interior are so 'naturally n'awlins' it was quite pleasing to my eyes. Though the pancakes largely filled the plate, I didn't care for the actual presentation of my granny's food... A little lackluster; although tasty as I've been told. My portion size was ok, a little smaller than I expected (guess that's just the pig in me). I love the name as the menu explains its due to the earnest desire to return post-Katrina; #melikesit. RUBY SLIPPERS, no place like home... So true!!!

Amazing food!!! We came here for brunch at around 11 and there was no wait to be seated. Our server was awesome-funny, friendly, and attentive. The food was awesome. I ordered the bananas foster French Toast with eggs and my husband ordered shrimp and grits. We both loved our food. Highly recommended!!! I'm sure their lunch is excellent too.

Horrible! Service-after we were seated and given water, we waited 20 minutes with no one acknowledging us before we flagged someone down to place an order. In these 20 minutes we watched 3 other tables get seated and place orders. Once we finally ordered, waited another 10 minutes for a cup of coffee....this is a breakfast place, 30 minutes to get coffee is unacceptable. Food-I had the Eggs Cochon, my wife had the Croque Madame. How bad can the kitchen mess those simple things up? My wife's sandwich was cold, with completely unmelted cheese, congealed mornay sauce and an egg with a totally uncooked white on top. My "poached" eggs were solid to the point of hard boiled and the hollandaise was so badly broken it amounted to a tiny grease puddle that collected under my biscuits. Pork was average and biscuit passable. No clue how this place has 4 stars here unless my experience was the exception. However, with so many things wrong, I find that hard to believe.

There are a few locations for Ruby Slipper including the one on Canal that opened last year. We normally go to the one in the Marigny - the building looks like it used to be a bank. Brunch mimosas are good, some dishes are a little pricy. They have different, southern style choices for breakfast and lunch - like catfish salad and eggs or fried chicken & eggs bene with biscuits and gravy. The cat head biscuits are big and tasty, and the egg servings are almost too big to finish in one sitting. They have a couple Latin style dishes, and all American sandwiches too.

Was in town for Easter Weekend and we ended up having brunch here twice on a four day trip! The service was ok on the first day, but very good the second day. We were staying very close to the Magazine Street location, but ended up going to this less busy option. While on a tour of the Marigny, we learned that this location used to be a bank and is "rumored to be held up by Bonnie and Clyde." We quickly learned that that meant that it was not true but that Bonnie and Clyde had stolen a car from the neighborhood. The building is very cool, and still has remnants of the old bank, including the Cashier's booth. I highly recommend the following options: Bananas Foster Pain Perdu (sweet, but not too sweet) Catfish 'St. Peter' (so many flavors, the perfect brunch mix) Hot-Smoked Salmon Bennie (generous salmon portion, not smoked salmon, but the real deal!) They also seem to have daily brunch specials that are very good too! The food is rich, flavorful, filling, and well made. They are creative with their New Orleans flair added to each dish!

First class food and a great atmosphere. Not super crowded when we came either at 10:30 on a Saturday. They were able to accommodate our group of 8 without a problem. And the service was on point. And the food. Delicious.

We had a real gut-buster of a meal here -- the biscuits were easily as big as our faces, and everything tasted just fine. Neither one of us could finish our meal, which some might consider to be a good thing, but I think I'd prefer a more reasonable portion size for a slightly lower price. My husband had the eggs cochon, which came highly recommended from other reviewers. It was good, but not so good that he wanted to return so he could eat it again the next day. I had some egg and biscuit thing and, again, could not imagine eating all of it. We both ordered Irish coffees (because it's New Orleans so why NOT start your day with a buzz?) but switched to regular coffee afterward. We are seasoned Irish coffee drinkers, and these were neither the best nor the worst we've ever had. This was a solid breakfast, and definitely worth trying out if you're in the area looking for breakfast.

I was here this morning with my family and we were very disappointed. The service was abysmally slow... About a half hour after ordering we were told that they were out of what one of us had ordered. We asked for a bagel that was not toasted but received a toasted bagel instead. The strawberry crumb pancakes had no crumb topping and were served cold. The egg white scramble was missing the goat cheese, fresh thyme, and was clearly not made with portobello mushrooms (made with regular mushrooms instead.) ... We left very disappointed and certainly will not return. (That said, in our group of six, one nonetheless enjoyed his breakfast sandwich)

I recently came to New Orleans for a five night adventure. Obviously, when you wake up each morning during an adventure - you must nourish yourself. You can't be having adventures and not be well fed, right?! RIGHT! We found the Ruby Slipper on Yelp and we weren't disappointed! Let's just say that we went to the Ruby Slipper four of the five mornings we were visiting. (We tried another local establishment and were then so upset because it didn't hold a candle. We were left missing a day we could've been at the Ruby Slipper that we now couldn't get back. Live and learn.) Anyways, the double mimosa, the Bloody Mary, the brandy milk punch - all delicious. The double mimosa is how a mimosa should really be made everywhere else in the world! Over the four meals we collectively sampled just about the entire menu! I'm not a huge fish person but my friend ordered the catfish with that massive gritcake - amazing! I think my favorites were the pork and corned beef! The meals come with poached eggs but I'd recommend ordering an extra to help soak up all that biscuit! I'd also gently ask for them to ensure they don't over poach the egg. That's pretty much our only suggestion for needs improvement. The servers are all adorable and sweet! They have the fresh looks of girls you'd meet in Oakland or Brooklyn but exude the charm and sweetness you'd expect from New Orleans! I appreciated their attentiveness - even when it was busy and their laid bad demeanor! Overall, I gutta give the place five stars! I mean, I went there four times during my vacation for a reason! I was almost beginning to feel like a local!

My first visit here deserves 5 stars, as I received a delicious Miami sandwich (or whatever they call it) and one of the best bloody maries in town with friendly and efficient service. The second time I came, I ordered the sliders. The wait was rather long, and when the food finally arrived, one of the sliders came completely bare (it was supposed to have an egg on top). The mini-burgers themselves were beyond well-done, overcooked to tasteless slabs of cardboard. The fries were cold. Service was okay. So yes, not great consistency. Would probably try again at some point but definitely not preferred after my last disappointment here.

The place is really cute and the servers are nice. Everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious and it was so hard for us to make up our minds which breakfast special to order! Then....the food came. There is just no excuse for a breakfast place to not know how to poach an egg. Seriously. Our poached eggs were all about the look and consistency of an Egg McMuffin egg. I actually sent mine back (and I NEVER send food back) that's how I appalled I was at my rock-hard poached egg. Even then, they somehow managed to overcook it but at least the yolk moved around this time. Also, my dish that came with "avocado slices" had one measly wafer-thin slice about two inches long and one inch wide. (That was the most expensive ingredient in my $14 breakfast.) Go to Elizabeths. Same prices and they at least know how to cook a damn egg. This place is a total hipster rip-off.

The food was really good, we were not disappointed. The only thing was their biscuits were hard as a rock. They over cooked those big time. Potatoes were a little burnt as well. But the omelet were great tasting perfect sauce that embellished the taste. Our waiter was not really on the bright side either. He didn't write any of our orders down and he even needed to come back and ask us again what we got. He messed up countless little things making it very stressful to enjoy it at a five star basis. I asked for potatoes he delivered grits. My friend asked for cheddar cheese on her omelet and he gave her Swiss. She asked for potatoes and he gave he a cup of fruit. He disappeared for a little while and we wanted refills. He didn't ask to split the check and we told him what our portion was and the other and he switched the totals and tried to get it reversed. He got the manager involved, it was a little frustrating when all we asked him to do was to just write very thing down and he didn't take the advice. Just kept messing things up.

I live two blocks away and frequently dine in and order take out. Today I was told that they stopped doing takeout on the weekend? Ridiculous. The place is fantastic when it's empty but service falls apart when there are more than two tables seated. Go when it's empty and remember that there is no takeout on the weekends.

This place was "da bomb!!". Great ambiance and food!! Our waitress was also really nice and good. The breakfast dishes were not overflowing with food....just the right amount. I tried their milk drink with brandy (I think) and that was super-duper fantastic! My brother tried the bananas foster french toast and that too was incredible!!! I definitely want to go back to this place when I go back to New Orleans.

Best breakfast in NOLA! Double mimosas, biscuits to die for, excellent ambience, and even better service. Duvie was very informative and energetic! Oh, and the chicken st Charles and bananas foster were nothing short of a taste explosion! I ate so much but I'll be back soon. Highly recommended!!

Wandered over to this gem of a cafe located in a re-purposed bank building in the Marigny district on Sunday morning. At about noon there were a few people waiting, and after a very friendly greeting from the hostess we were told a thirty minute wait. About 15 minutes later we were seated and perusing the creative menu. My dining partner loved the short stack of pancakes and eggs, although he thought the sausage a bit bland. I had the Southern breakfast which include creamy, buttery stone ground grits, a tasty crisp and tart fried green tomato, bacon, eggs and huge, flaky, buttery biscuit. The Bloody Mary included a pickled green bean, olive and lemon garnish and had just the right blend of zingy peppery kick. Service was prompt, friendly and professional. Worth the wander over from the quarter for sure next time you're in town.

Had breakfast here twice, as we were staying in the Marigny, one of the three (?) neighborhoods that have a Ruby Slipper Cafe. Fresh ingredients, perfectly poached eggs and a laid back vibe made this a great start to the day. First time here our group ordered the Chicken St. Charles (fried chicken on a big ass biscuit with a poached egg on top), French toast special (lemon curd filled French baguette toast with a blueberry compote), and the eggs cochon (apple braised pulled pork atop a biscuit with a poached egg on top). All were spectacular. Next time we had the eggs blackstone (biscuit with tomato, bacon and poached egg with hollandaise on top), crab cake eggs Benedict and the Costa Rican breakfast. There are several other items I'd like to try. My only negative was the breakfast potatoes that came with the eggs blackstone had an odd flavor (probably cumin or coriander) that I did not care for. Service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere at the Marigny location is cool as it's an old bank building. High ceilings, lots of light. Overall a great dining experience.

The food was very good. We both ordered the BL2T, BLT with a fried green tomato and a regular tomato. I had it before at a different Ruby Slipper in Mid-City. This one was different. The green tomato was on one side and the regular tomato was on the other. The other Ruby Slipper had both tomatos on each side. It made for a better sandwich. The service was slow. There were three waitresses with 6 tables of people. The order still took 20 minutes to come out. It was a little disappointing for a quick lunch. Overall the food was good, but the service needed a push.

Three times now we've been here. One meal was just eh....the second one was pretty good, but today. Ugh. No. The Croque Madame on Challah sounds like a good idea, but they dip it in custard so that it's really french toast (which makes it a Monte Cristo). Which means it's soggy. The crusts were also burned. It was kind of a gross sandwich. If I have to cut away a good chunk of it as inedible, what's the point? And the salad was equally bad. Some of the greens were rotten. There's no excuse for serving me salad that's past its prime. You have to step up your game. There's lots of good food in this town and there's no excuse for serving soggy food and a crummy salad at 11AM on a Monday morning.

My partner and I woke up at 5am and had a hankering for hollandaise. We like to try new breakfast places and after a few Yelp searches, ended up here right after they opened at 7am on a weekday. I was impressed and we'll be back. The extra nice touches that we really appreciated at 7am before we went to work: menu recommendations, the chef/manager/owner (?) coming up and asking us how our meal was, and the offer of a coffee refill in a Go-Cup on our way out. Kudos. It's these small things that make a good experience great. This place is doing it right. The food was excellent. Loved the homemade hash. My one complaint is that for a neighborhood breakfast joint, it's pretty pricy. $4 orange juice is tough for me to swallow, and so is a $14 breakfast plate. In my opinion, no breakfast option anywhere in a residential neighborhood should be more than someone making minimum wage can earn in one hour. I want to point out that you CAN have a great breakfast here under $10... You just can't get one of their awesome specialty plates.

Tried two signature dishes for breakfast. Amazing. Meets the hype. Don't miss the eggs with pork debris. I ate WAY too much--could hardly walk back up the street to our rental. Biscuits are better than Mama's and very nearly as good as my wife's. Every late that ambled by was overloaded and looked worth trying. Even the coffee was better than expected. Also, best Bloody Mary in the city. Imo, better than Mother's. Service was friendly, but not "hi, I'm your new best-" friendly. Atmosphere is open & light, very high ceilinged old bank building. Bonnie and Clyde once robbed the place. I have a feeling that if they'd eaten breakfast instead, their lives would've ended more peacefully.

Amazing food. Great location (there are actually two locations on either end of the French quarter). We came for breakfast as they're only open until 3:00. We were not disappointed!!! The wait staff was excellent and the food was amazing! Try the pig candy bacon. I wanted to bathe in it!!

Ok so we are team Ruby Slipper however my visit today to this location was very disappointing. We usually go to Mid city where they put love in their food but it was tooooooo crowded. I will say we had a very short wait which should've been a sign, normally for Ruby Slipper u wait for goodness. Our iced coffees were very bitter and they did not use the cream we asked for. They were fixed. The food: I got the French toast and it was undercooked. I do not delight in the taste of wet bread and yeast. My potatoes were cold and my chicken sausage was hard and the size of a quarter. I tell ppl all over about their chicken sausage and this was not it. My husband's food was ok. Let's just say we will stay going to Mid city. We know the manager there and he is very nice. And again where they put LOVE in their food.

Rude wait staff, Ok, bland-ish food. Yummy mimosas. Poached eggs saved this place. They need to work on their balance and harmony of flavors.

I dined here with a bike tour group so I'm sure my experience was different from the usual customer. Our tour guide already knew what to order: Eggs Cochon and BBQ shrimp & grits. The Eggs Cochon sounded delicious in theory (poached eggs over apple-braised pork debris and a biscuit, finished with Hollandaise sauce) but mine arrived cold. I'm almost certain I would have enjoyed it more had I received it fresh. The shrimp & grits, however, were very warm and enjoyable. The biscuits were also pretty good.

PRALINE PANCAKES: decadent and moist with a crunchy pecan caramel crust; HISTORIC: lofty and large, old bank lobby renovation; $11.99! 2 huge pancakes and sausage, fruit and bottomless coffee: 3 meals easy! Wow, this is almost exactly what a true old-line New Orleans neighborhood bistro should be! I know many prefer Elizabeth's but I have always felt it was cramped and a little dirty, like the old and now defunct Petunia's on St. Louis. Good food but just a step above sleazy. By contrast Ruby Slipper is clean with a surprisingly cozy dining room housed in a beautiful, lofty, cerca 1920s art deco bank lobby. The portions are huge. I ordered a short stack of the special praline pancakes with a perfectly crispy baked-in topping. The link sausages were large and plump, a side of fruit were freshly sliced and the coffee bottomless. A very filling and surprisingly light breakfast, if like me you took 2/3 home (and seriously, my go-box weighed almost a pound!). Outstanding food, service and ambiance: just $11.99!

Worth the Wait! This place has the best breakfast walking distance to Frenchman St. I have been to the Ruby Slipper other location in the Central Business District- that location is excellent too (but possibly more busy because it is so close to many of the downtown hotels). The Bloody Mary is out of this world good with all the trimmings- string beans, pickled veggies, etc. The Eggs Cochon is my favorite thing on the menu - a flavor explosion! Seriously everything here is good. If you like sweets, go for the stuffed french toast, or order one for the table as a shared dessert. Even their simple breakfast sandwich is perfect. I can not say enough good things about this place. Be prepared to wait for a table on weekends and peak times but you can always enjoy a bloody mary or their milk punch while you wait.

This is the only place in New Orleans I have ever eaten, that was bad! The menu was decent but poorly executed, simple things like biscuits were clearly baked earlier and microwave to order, ordered smoked salmon eggs Benedict, the poached eggs were hard, the salmon was over cooked and the sauce had no flavor

  • Anna B.

I didn't think I could go wrong by stalking Joi B's checkins... right? Right. I was on foot, with a brutal dirt thirst, and I'd been in town long enough to know that Ms. Madame CM herself had been to this joint no less than twice in two days, so it seemed good to me. Right? Right. I hobbled in at the very super tail end of weekend brunch time and dear GAWD, were those Abercrombie servers a sight for sore eyes. It is an employment requirement that everyone who works at Ruby Slipper be super beautiful, or is that just a NOLA coincidence? Either way, no matter. All that mattered was me taking advantage of the sweet Yelp check in offer to upgrade my mimosa, which I paired with a lovely omelet, potatoes, and toast: exactly what this weary-footed traveler needed. Upgrade to a Big Girl-sized mimosa? Right? Right. Top notch start to finish. I'll be back, Ruby. You set a bar that I know will be topped next time.

Delicious Latte SITREP Short & Sweet: I had a 9am Cajun Cooking Class around the corner at the Langrois Culinary Institute this particular Saturday morning. But I was an hour early, and I wanted to kill some time. THE SETUP This was a pure "Yelp App" moment since I inputed "Coffee" in the search field and Ruby Slipper Cafe was the closest establishment that popped up. So I head on over. LE MENU It's a beautiful cafe and served full on brunch this morning, so my attendance here was pretty understated compared to all the families that were showing up. I mentioned to the young serve that I only wanted a Latte since I was going to a class in about 30 minus or so. She smiled and led me away. There was a sweet small table next to the far wall that the young lady took me too, and that was a bit away from the rest of the throng. I even felt comfortable enough to take out my laptop (but, *dam*, no WiFi - however I had my wireless cellular card, so all was good). I ordered my latte. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I wasn't in any rush for any food or any other items or distractions. So I was able to fully enjoy my Latte for just being a Latte. It was absolutely delicious and hit the spot. It was a reasonable $3.50, but I just left her a whole $5 anyways. THE LOWDOWN A delightful spot for a quick cup of elegant coffee.

5 stars for the taste, neighborhood, and neat bank-turned-restaurant architecture. Cons: They're a bit expensive, there's no parking, they lack a bottomless mimosa or pitcher of mimosa option, some of the servings are small and some are huge Pros: they have a breakfast sandwich with candied bacon, fried green tomatoes that is out of this world delicious. The neighborhood is AWESOME and the locals and servers are cool. I wish they delivered and an wish they had longer hours.

Awesome brunch. I had their corned beef bennie (hash, biscuit, poached eggs, hollandaise and a taste of horseradish) and my wife had smoked salmon on a bed of spinach and roasted tomatoes with poached eggs. The double Mimosa is no joke either.

"Marissa, what was your favorite meal in New Orleans?" "THE RUBY SLIPPER, DUH, RANDOM QUESTION ASKER" Ruby Slipper came highly recommended to us, so I, in turn, highly recommend it to you. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The Ruby slipper was suggested to me by a friend who swore by their bloody Mary's. Very nice little location the building was originally a bank in the 1800s. There was a rumor that this actual bank was robbed by Bonnie and Clyde. I don't know how true it was but I willbe able to testify that the bloody Mary's were spicy. When the young lady asked if I wanted a regular or spicy luckily I chose regular. Wow. They knocked my socks off. Very friendly staff of artsy hipster type folk in a artsy, hipster type area.I enjoyed the costa Rica breakfast which was black beans and rice over salsa with plan tames avocado and two eggs. Very very good. Nice atmosphere and a nice price.

  • Jane M.

  • Alexandra S.

Overall a great dining experience.

personally, as far as just the food goes, i don't see it living up to the ratings. we ordered eggs cuchon and shrimp and grits, and nothing stood out about either one.

Really delicious! The wait at the Marigny location was not too horrible at all, especially for a Sunday. I had been to the downtown location before previously, and knew it would not disappoint!

Food, service, atmosphere all 5 stars. Bloody Mary's are excellent! Omelettes are fantastic! Four of us ate there and everything was absolutely amazing! The place for brunch!

The food is AMAZING! I had the eggs cochon, definitely a top 5 breakfast of my entire life. The hollandaise sauce had great flavor and the pork was perfectly seasoned! This is a must when visiting New Orleans!

Food is ok to good, but then again it's breakfast/brunch food, not very hard to mess up. Overall I was pleased, it's just kinda packed and the service is ok at best.

  • LaVina D.

Will definitely be back.

my absolute favorite brunch spot. there is always a wait, but it is so worth it. enjoy mimosas or bloody Mary's or brandy milk punch while you wait. the shrimp & grits are fantastic & if the raspberry pancakes are the special, you better order them!

We were in town and found this gem on yelp. What pure joy. The staff was friendly and efficient and the food incredibly delicious. There was a pretty long line outside but it moved quickly. Very kid friendly and cool vibe.

  • Michael L.

  • Mike F.

  • S B.

  • Jack A.

  • Shayla A.

  • Sandy S.

    (5)
  • Carlyn E.

Great food! Loud and crowded (on weekends for brunch)! Expect a long wait time. Bloody Mary's are very good and the food is delicious! Well worth the wait!

  • Kevin S.

    (5)
  • Andre B.

The best biscuit of my life. The best Irish Coffee of my life. The best cheesy grits of my life. The best scrambled eggs of my life. yep, I just said that. great potatoes. mediocre/too chunky belini but like WHATEVER

Love the decor, the ambiance and the food here. The specials are huge plates so come hungry and leave with a smile. The specials are an interesting take on southern cuisine. A definite must try if you're in the Marigny area for brunch or lunch.

Very nice atmosphere and ambience! The food was very delicious and it is a very wide selection to meet all of your needs or wants!

This Brooklyn girl travels to new orleans twice a year at least. This was hands down the most amazing breakfast experience. Service is impeccable! Everyone is so lovely. Get the Croquet Madame!

My mimosa was delicious and every food item we ordered was the perfect temperature, delivered in a timely fashion, & very tasty. Our waitress was smiling and attentive the entire time. Love the overall atmosphere of this spot. It's just... happy. =]

  • Kevin I.

    (3)

  • Siera W.

  • Morgan M.

  • Ant B.

A gem. Food is yum yum yum. Service is great. Drinks are great. And how can you resist a place called Ruby Slipper. It's gotta be special. It is.

Just wow.

Tip: if you check in on yelp you can usually get a coupon... ;)
